As we walk this path of self-discovery together, I thought I
would share my process and discoveries considering the questions above. Question 1: Tasks and Responsibility I dislike or avoid One thing I know about myself is that I do not do well with routine tasks. One of my greatest challenges currently is consistently putting out a newsletter on Wednesday afternoons. I love creating the content, I do not like the detail-work of formatting it (even though I think it looks beautiful). I am learning how to navigate that. Question 2: Feedback responses I have grown considerably in this area and my goal is to always be open-minded and curious. I have to remember that regardless of my perspective on their feedback (right or wrong), it is their opinion, and that makes it valid, regardless of my feelings. Questions 3: Activities promoting negative emotional responses Anything detail-oriented. I can absolutely do it and be detail-oriented when necessary (which happens to be often!), but it takes all my focus and concentration. Details work is draining for me. I have to limit it in my day-to-day life or schedule it to prepare in advance. Question 4: Chores I rush or procrastinate More routine items – like cleaning. I have learned it's easier to do a little bit every day along the way, and not try to create a huge task out of the cleaning I need to do weekly, or monthly. If I take big tasks that feel overwhelming and break them into smaller sections I can work more efficiently. That’s mine - share yours at comment@tanapattenpoole.com.
